The BI dashboard was designed for a B2B2C sales start-up, within the worlds of gaming and eCommerce.
In order to get an updated status of online orders, the product team was requested to design an orders dashboard that includes a list of all orders and a few necessary dashboard widgets. The list and widgets help monitor and monetize the shopping experience performance. The dashboard is used internally by the following departments: Operations, Marketing, Product, and Management.
Research was based on data from user-interviews, and also included examining popular conventional models, such as eCommerce platforms, Google Analytics, Ads manager, stock market charts, and also different models of tables, lists, dashboards, etc
Following our research we made certain basic assumptions. First, The platform will be used by various company employees, from different departments, and from different age groups, gender, tech level, etc. Second, The users should be able to get data insights at a glance, and also to drill down if necessary. Third, They won’t have any special training on the platform.
Our conclusion, based on the research and our assumptions, was that the design should be - first - responsive, and second - intuitive and user-friendly as possible. To achieve this we chose to use familiar mental models, simple language, a calming color palette, and clear contrast .
